"Auf der Walz" is german and means "taken to the road".


It is a century-old tradition of craftsmen to leave their villages and learn their trade in different parts of Germany/Europe.


This little fellowis a journeyman carpenter.
The guilds have very strict rules for their craftsmen.
For example they can't have any depts, must be single, have to wear the typical clothes and can't take more with them than fit's into a (slightly larger) handkerchief.
